Event Details

Bring family and friends to celebrate Native American culture and resilience!  

Includes performances, arts and crafts, food vendors, and more. 

Performances include:

  • Angela Gladue (Frog Lake First Nation) - Hoop Dancer
  • Chris EagleHawk (Taos Pueblo & Oglala Lakota) - Traditional Dancer
  • Shawn Ironmaker (Fort Belknap) - Candy Dance
  • Max Yamane - Singer
  • Rose- Powhatan (Pamunkey)  - Story Teller
  • Lance Fisher (Northern Cheyenne) & Giovanna - Singers
  • Brett Walking Eagle (Dakota Sioux) - Native American Flute & Guitar

12 pm: Formal Welcome & Remarks from HCLS President & CEO Tonya Aikens, The Honorable John Sarbanes, U.S. Representative, Dr. Calvin Ball,Howard County Executive, Dr. Denise Boston, Equity & Restorative Practices Manager, Howard County Office of Human Rights & Equity, Ani Begay Auld, MC (Diné).

2-2:45 pmBrian Lee Young, author, filmmaker, and member of the Navajo Nation, talks about his children's book Healer of the Water Monster. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

The Native American Heritage Month Celebration is free and all are welcome.

It will be held outside the HCLS East Columbia Branch, unless inclement weather causes the event to move inside the branch. 

Registration is optional and appreciated. Registrants will receive an event confirmation and reminder.
