A terrific method for sowing seeds early is using a "winter sowing method". It is easily done by sowing seeds in a milk jug that becomes a mini greenhouse. Master Gardeners demonstrate how to make your own milk jug seed starter. 

Bring a book and enjoy one hour of peace, quiet, and reading, with an optional fifteen minutes of mingling at the end. There is no assigned reading and no pressure to socialize. All readers are welcome.
