The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See
Join us from Mountain Maryland to the Ocean City shore as we read and discuss this year’s memorable story.
This year's One Maryland One Book (OMOB) is the story of the complex and decades-long friendship between Young-sook and Mi-ja, two women living on the Korean island of Jeju. Readers can follow their journey from the Japanese occupation of the 1930's to the 21st century.
As part of the OMOB programming for the state’s largest reading and discussion program, author Lisa See visits virtually to discuss her book The Island of Sea Women. She will be in conversation with Laura Yoo, Professor of English at Howard Community College and a board member of Howard County Poetry and Literature Society.
You must register to receive the virtual event link. Event registrants will be entered into a drawing to win a set of teas and snacks from Jeju Island. Click here to register.
One Maryland One Book is a program of Maryland Humanities.
Howard County Library System is organizing this event in partnership with Howard County Poetry and Literature Society, Korean American Parents Association (KAPA) of CHS, and Books With A Past bookstore. To purchase the book and support our local bookstore, click BooksWithaPast .
