As We See Ourselves: An Appreciation and Celebration of Black Doll Art

In honor of Black History Month, the Charm City Dolling Club Of Maryland, a member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs (UFDC), presents As We See Ourselves, an event and exhibit in appreciation and celebration of Black doll art for today's contemporary doll lover and collector.  Everyone is welcome! 

Meet and greet Black doll artists and doll world celebrities during this all-day educational and informative event that celebrates the history of dolls, Black dolls, and the people who love them. Speakers scheduled to appear include storyteller and American Griot, Janice Curtis Greene, collector and recognized authority on Black doll art, Deborah Butler Johnson, past president of the UFDC, Barbara Stone, and doll artist, historian, and author Goldie Wilson.

• 10:45 am: Kickoff 
• 11 am: Meet and greet "Harriet Tubman" as presented by Janice Curtis Greene, an award-winning author, master storyteller and historical interpreter, an American griot, and the official griot of the state of Maryland, Families welcome! 
• Break to appreciate the exhibit, and ask questions of members of the Charm City Dolling Club of Maryland
• 1:45 pm: Special presentation by Barbara Stone, Past President of the UFDC, recognizing Charm City Dolling Club of Maryland for being the first doll club, organized to study Black doll art
• 2 pm: An Overview of Today's Black Doll Art, Deborah Johnson, Founder of Charm City Dolling Club
• 3 pm: Meet and greet, Goldie Wilson, recognized by UFDC as the first commercially successful Black doll Artist

Members of the Charm City Dolling Club of Maryland will be on hand throughout the day to guide and answer questions.
