A Capitol Announcement:
All teens ages 11–18 are hereby summoned to report to the Elkridge Branch on January 22 for the annual Reaping Day Celebration.
By order of the Capitol, the library will transform into a full Panem experience, with each area representing a different District. Upon arrival, Tributes will receive a Cornucopia Supply Bag and an official Arena Map detailing the challenges, creative stations, and opportunities to earn entries in the Reaping.
Tributes may demonstrate their skill, cleverness, and style across the Districts, including:
🌾 District 12 – Crack a Geode
🎮 District 3 – Console Gaming Arena
🎨 Districts 1 & 8 – Make free personalized T-shirts, Mockingjay charms, and bracelets
🌲 District 7 – Lumber-Themed Escape Room (14-minute speed trials!)
⚡ District 5 – Circuit wands & bristle bots
🍕 District 9 – Pizza & snacks for energy and survival
🐟 District 4 – Human Hungry Hungry Hippos, Fishing Expedition, and water trials
🌱 District 11 – “Poison or Snack?” plant challenge, origami animals, hybrid creature engineering
🎭 Capitol Media Center – Photo booth, karaoke, expressive art
🎄 Tribute Tree – Add your recommendations to please the Capitol and earn points
Every completed challenge earns Tributes a place on the Capitol Leaderboard, increasing their chances of selection in the final Reaping. At the event’s end, all Tributes will be called to assemble in the Arena for the ceremonial drawing — conducted with full Capitol pageantry. One fortunate Tribute will receive a grand prize.
