Stories are powerful tools that help us develop a better understanding of our community. Stories help us build empathy and identify ways to advance equity and inclusion for all. At Howard County Library System, we are collecting stories about people’s experiences - positive and negative - around race and other forms of identity in Howard County.

In this session, we will provide an overview to our Brave Stories project and exhibit (now open at the HCLS Central Branch), and share samples from the 600+ stories shared so far. Then participants will share their stories in a facilitated circle. We’re looking for stories about race relations and inclusion in the county: that showed hope, that seemed typical, or that showed you things need to change.

We need your stories. All voices from our community are needed, and we believe everyone has stories to share! Bring your experiences and insights, listening ears, and an open mind and heart.
