The early bird gets the worm! Start your planning for those college essays now! Learn the top 10 college application essay mistakes to avoid and the "secrets" to writing a winning personal statement.

A Harvard graduate and PhD, former college teacher Daniel K. Berman distills more than thirty years of experience in college admission coaching and counseling into this fast-paced and information-packed presentation, capped off with a Q&A session. If college admission is important to you, you won’t want to miss this special event.

As stated in The New York Times, “Colleges give more weight to the essay than the GPA. ONE writing assignment is more critical to a high school senior’s chances of getting into many top colleges than his or her average grades from FOUR YEARS of high school, with factors like recommendations from teachers and extracurricular activities trailing far behind.”

Recent developments, including the pandemic and the diminished role of standardized test scores, have made these essays even more critical than they originally were. Yet applicants overwhelmingly are not equipped to handle this type of writing well, as their high schools have not trained them for it. Though it isn't feasible in the course of an hour to teach students mastery of this essay form, it is feasible to at least get them moving in that direction. And it is feasible to point out to them the major mistakes they can avoid (principles that apply at the level of graduate/professional school, as well).
