Researching Your Family's History

Learn how to research your family’s lineage and confirm known information. Presenter Rebecca Dobbs will share techniques for documenting your family’s history, creating a research plan/goals, resources for finding documents in both online databases and repositories, and the importance of verifying your family’s information. She will also share how she utilized her family’s oral history in addition to collections from Ancestry and FamilySearch to learn about the lifestyle of her great-grandfather and a shocking family story she recently discovered. Record collections will include (but are not limited to) census records, city directories, naturalization/immigration documents, articles from Newspapers.com, and records from the Maryland State Archives.
