Sal Mubarak!
Join us for a specially curated and deliciously crafted evening as we discuss the richly detailed and intricately plotted Perveen Mistry Mystery series with Author Sujata Massey. Sujata's immensely popular book Widows of Malabar Hill seamlessly weaves together historical, political and social layers--suffocating colonialism, societal systems more concerned with appearance than equity, racial and gender disparities. Through Perveen Mistry, Sujata brings to life Bombay in the 1920's and captures the fine details of Parsi culture.
In Conversation with Sujata is Parsi culinary expert and Author Niloufer Mavalvala. Niloufer has written two lavishly illustrated cookbooks with a treasure trove of authentic Parsi recipes. The Art of Parsi Cooking: Reviving an Ancient Cuisine and The World of Parsi Cooking: Food Across Borders are great for beginners as well as experienced cooks.
Niloufer will share and demonstrate some of her favorite quick-n-easy recipes as she details the unique history and culture of the Parsi community.
Sujata Massey is the author of fifteen novels, two novellas and numerous short stories that have been published in eighteen countries. Her novels have won the Agatha, Lefty and MaCavity and Mary Higgins Clark awards and been finalists for the Edgar, Anthony, Shamus, and Harper Lee prizes. Currently, Sujata writes mystery and suspense fiction set in pre-Independence India. She has also authored the Rei Shimura Mysteries series set in Japan.

Niloufer Mavalvala was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. Niloufer’s love for food combined with extensive world travel from a young age inspired her to experiment with world cuisines. Niloufer gave her first cooking class at the age of 17; loving the opportunity to meet new people who share her passion for food, she has gone on to give many, many more cooking classes in Dubai, UK, and Canada - where she has lived for the past 21 years.
Growing up in a foodie family, her love and passion for food was natural. A self-taught chef and culinary teacher, she has authored two cookbooks on Parsi food and won 3 Gourmand awards. She also has 10 e-books on various cuisines from around the world. Her blog www.nilouferskitchen.com awaits its millionth hit.
She has written numerous articles published in a variety of magazines, journals and newspapers – from Delicious Magazine, The Fezana Journal, Hamazor, Huffington Post, The Parsiana, Jam e Jamshed among others. She has been a guest chef at Le Cordon Bleu in London and on the tv show for The Cooks Cook in New Hampshire and more recently on Voice of Canada.
Her mantra is #revivinganancientcuisine one recipe at a time, and she is zealously following her dream of putting Parsi cuisine on the culinary platform globally while travelling and enjoying food photography.
