Join author Elizabeth Lilly at the Elkridge Branch of the Howard County Library System as she talks about children’s books, illustration, writing, animating, and art/illustration careers, and discusses her new book: Let Me Fix You A Plate.

“Whether you're settling in for a heaping plate of banana pudding or arepas and tostones, a good meal can always bring families together. Let Me Fix You A Plate is a tale of a joyous road trip, drawn from Elizabeth Lilly’s own experience, and is illustrated with quirky charm that captures all the warmth and love of her family's two distinct cultures.”

ELIZABETH LILLY is a children’s book author-illustrator, animated filmmaker, and art director. She has written and illustrated two books for publication: GERALDINE (Roaring Brook Press/Macmillan) in 2018 and Let Me Fix You A Plate (Holiday House) in 2021.

Elizabeth was raised in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC in a mixed family, with a Colombian mom and an American dad. She and her three sisters grew up speaking two languages and living in two worlds.

Elizabeth made stories come alive as an animator, and later as an author and illustrator of books for children. She writes and draws about the places she has lived in, and the places that live in her. Today Elizabeth writes and illustrates picture books, writes and directs her own animated films, gives talks about being an author to schools and libraries, and teachers drawing and illustration as an adjunct professor at Towson University. She lives in a little old house in the little old city of Baltimore, Maryland, USA with her fluffy white dog, Ponyo.

Listen to Elizabeth read her children’s book, then go over the development and artmaking process for the book. She will also talk about her career path, background and kind of day in the life of an author-illustrator. There will be crafts related to her work available to make after her presentation.

Copies of Let Me Fix You A Plate will be available for purchasing and signing immediately following the event.
