On June 19, 1865, Major Gen. Gordon Granger led Union soldiers into Galveston, Texas, with news that the Civil War had ended and slavery was abolished – two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Celebrate Juneteenth by bearing witness, Readers Theater style as participants read aloud first hand accounts from the Library of Congress's curated Juneteenth primary source collection.
