International Grocery Stores Tour - Masala Bazaar & Halal Market

A collaborative project of the Columbia Association (CA) and the Howard County Library System (HCLS)

Thursday, November 30

 

Join us to revisit the recently expanded Masala Bazaar & Halal Market (9050 Red Branch Road, Columbia 21045) on Thursday, November 30 from 3-4pm. Our community volunteer will share two traditional recipes from South Asia and Middle East, explain what the ingredients are, and where to find them in the grocery store. In addition to recipes, participants will receive a list of books and resources related to the culture, history, literature, travel and culinary traditions. The tour is limited to 15 participants. Registration begins on November 16.

 

We are also seeking volunteers who are interested in sharing their cultural recipes and to lead a tour of a grocery store where the ingredients can be purchased. If you have a favored Chinese, Filipino, Guatemalan, Indian, Irish, Jamaican, Japanese, Jewish, Korean, Mexican, Pakistan, Thai, Turkish or other global recipe you would like to share and lead a tour, please contact Diane.Li@hclibrary.org or (410- 924-2226).
