Calling all foodies and cooks! In celebration of the Lunar New Year, our next International Grocery Store tour will be highlighting the cuisine of China. Liju Fan, a health food enthusiast, a cooking class instructor with a PhD in Toxicology and research experience in the health field will lead a group of 15 participants on a tour of H Mart on Route 40 (3301 N Ridge Road, Ellicott City) on Thursday, January 19 from 3-4pm. She will provide recipes to two Chinese New Year dishes, explain what the ingredients are, where to find them in the grocery store, and tips for making the well-loved New Year's day dish. 

Along with the tour, participants will receive a list of resources related to that culture, including history, literature, travel information and culinary traditions. 

 

We are also seeking volunteers who are interested in sharing their cultural recipes and to lead a tour of a grocery store where the ingredients can be purchased. If you have a favored Chinese, Guatemalan, Indian, Irish, Jamaican, Mexican, Turkish or other global recipe you would like to share and lead a tour, please contact Grace.Chang@ColumbiaAssociation.org (410-715-3178) or Diane.Li@hclibrary.org or (410- 924-2226).
