WATER IS POWER

Paolo Bacigalupi, New York Times best-selling author of The Windup Girl and National Book Award finalist, delivers a near-future thriller that casts new light on how we live today—and what may be in store for us tomorrow. The Water Knife is a 2015 science fiction novel by Paolo Bacigalupi. It takes place in the near future, where drought brought on by climate change has devastated the Southwestern United States.

Join us on Tuesday, 1/6 at 6:30 pm to discuss The Water Knife by Paolo Bacigalupi.  Copies will be available at Miller, please visit the second-floor kiosk to pick up a copy. We are low on physical books but have several eBooks available through Libby! 

 

 Meet the Facilitators: 

Eli Vogel has a master's degree in environmental science and policy, experience in atmospheric science and environmental policy analysis, and a great deal of anxiety for our future. He loves climate fiction because it reminds him that things could always get worse.

Dina Boogaard has a doctorate in human and organization systems, working with leaders and teams,  and is currently a volunteer mediator at MCRC in Howard County.  Like Eli, she looks to science fiction writers for clues to our rapidly changing future, which seems both terrifying and fascinating to her.
