Program Description
Event Details
December is a special time of year. For Baltimoreans the season offers a chance to enjoy both the customary holiday traditions accompanied by a few that are unique to the city. This program details many of those traditions from first a historical perspective (e.g., just where did Santa originate?) along with the way those traditions impact the community (e.g., the obligatory photo on Santa’s knee). Christmas shopping – those “downtown” stores, holiday lights -- colored or a Menorah, and the Christmas Garden – for many, a requirement of the season. It’s an hour of Christmas, Hannukah, and Kwanzaa in Baltimore.
Presented by historian Jack Burkert.
