Step Inside the White House with Former Butler Alan DeValerio!

Join us at the Miller Branch for an unforgettable afternoon with former White House butler Alan DeValerio! Get the inside scoop on what goes on behind the scenes of White House entertaining, from planning state dinners to meeting world leaders. Alan will share captivating stories from his time serving America’s First Families, including exclusive anecdotes passed down by iconic colleagues like Eugene Allen, whose experiences inspired the film Lee Daniels' The Butler.

You'll also get an up-close look at authentic White House artifacts—menus, programs, personal photos, and more—that Alan has collected over the years. And, for a deeper dive, Alan’s book A History of Entertainment in the Modern White House will be available for purchase and signing after the program.

Don’t miss this rare chance to experience history from a whole new perspective!
