Think back to what you ate last night for dinner. Got it? Now, think back to what portion of that meal you threw out. Not so easy, is it? Though food waste may seem like an unimportant issue at the surface, it is a contributing factor to greenhouse gas emissions, and if there was an Olympics for food waste, America would win gold.

Want to learn more? Join us for a fun and informative presentation, delivered by Natalie Shin, about the impact of food waste with a guest speaker from the Youth Climate Institute, Erin Yi. We’ll learn how to save food, protect our planet, and help those in need. With games, fascinating facts, and easy solutions to food waste, this presentation is open to young environmentalists and anyone interested in helping their community!

Bio: Hi! My name is Natalie, and I’m a senior at Marriotts Ridge High School. I am also a Girl Scout, and along with earning my Bronze and Silver Awards, I am now working toward my Gold Award, the highest level achievement in Girl Scouts. The root issue of my project is food waste and its impact on the environment and the community. In partnership with Columbia Community Care, a local food pantry, I am actively seeking to bring awareness to the impact of food waste.
