Run Howard County: A Nonpartisan Series on Running for Office in Howard County

Session 2: Practical Advice for Potential Candidates

This second session, Practical Advice for Potential Candidates, offers a deeper dive into what it takes to campaign and win. Expert speakers will cover:  

  • How to become a candidate for election and get your name on the ballot
  • How to create and run a campaign
  • How to raise money and understand campaign finance reporting requirements
  • Planning for election day
  • Preparing to govern once elected

This non-partisan event features former and current county officials who will not be running for office in 2026, along with individuals and groups experienced in candidacy, campaign strategy, and volunteer coordination. 

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Tiffany Ferrell, Election Program Manager, Maryland State Government
  • Allan Kittleman, Former County Executive
  • Mary Kay Sigaty, Former County Council Member
  • McNeal Brown, Democratic Central Committee and former campaign manager
  • Lucie Geinzer, LWVHC member and former campaign treasurer
  • Shavon Arline-Bradley, Co-founder, Delta 4 Women in Action
  • Sue Geckle, Chair of the Citizens' Election Fund Commission

Invited guests include representatives from the Republican Central Committee, Democratic Central Committee, Run for Something, and other organizations offering campaign support. Final speaker confirmations are pending.
