How would society cope if melting permafrost released an ancient, lethal virus? Join our climate fiction discussion group to share your thoughts about Sequoia Nagamatsu’s imagined response to a global health crisis in How High We Go in the Dark. Structured as a series of short stories, the novel explores multiple perspectives on fear, grief, love, and hope over thousands of years. According to The Guardian, the work “is a truly genre-transcending work in which sense of wonder and literary acumen are given boundless opportunity to shine.”

How High We Go in the Dark is Nagamatsu’s debut novel and a New York Times Editors’ Choice. The thought-provoking book will launch a lively conversation led by two writers, one literary and one environmental, who think stories can help us understand ourselves and prepare for our future.

Ask at the Adult Research Kiosk on second floor for a copy of the book, beginning 4 weeks before the discussion date.

Registration is preferred, not required.
