Traditional African healing practices were handed down through our sojourn in America and are some of the jewels that keep our African American culture rich. In this workshop we will explore common herbal and nutritional remedies that continue to live on in Black American communities today. The session includes a tour of Miller Library’s Enchanted Garden led by Erica Coady, to experience the vibrancy of plants highlighted in the workshop discussion.
Charlene Marie Muhammad, MS, CNS, LD holds a Master of Science in Herbal Medicine and is a Certified Nutrition Specialist and Licensed Dietitian. She is the author of two books:Yoga in the Black Community Healing Practices and Principles and Healthy Weight, Healthy You: Achieving your ideal weight by exploring the mind-body connection to weight loss.
