V-E Day (Victory in Europe Day) is the day celebrating the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Germany's unconditional surrender on Tuesday, 8 May 1945. It was the pivotal time when some were finally done with battle. For others it was just another step to the end of the entire war. It was also the beginning of the fundamental shift of political and economic situation in Europe.
