The Howard County Library System and Columbia Association (CA) are excited to announce History at Home: Exploring the New Digital Database at Columbia Maryland Archives.

We invite middle and high school students and educators to this virtual tutorial, focused on navigating the collections of Columbia Maryland Archives from your own computer. This new tool provides first-of-its-kind remote access to the exhibits and resources focused on the unique past of this planned community.

Columbia Maryland Archives Manager Lela Sewell-Williams guides participants through the search process, highlighting digitized collections along the way and discovering ways to utilize the database in and out of the classroom. This instructional presentation also ties in with National History Day and its theme of “Communication in History: the Key to Understanding.”

This is one more way we can communicate the history of Columbia, and we are excited to share it with all of you.
