Did you know that the Howard County Library System (HCLS) has an Equity Resource Center (ERC)?
Find out what special resources can be found in the ERC collection.
Launched in 2021 at the Central Branch, the ERC is part of HCLS' broader work in the area of race, equity and inclusion.
Key themes covered in the ERC include:
- The history of race and racism in the US and Maryland
- The impact of racial discrimination on housing, education, health care, etc.
- Policing and the criminal justice system
- Immigration and emancipation
- Gender/gender identity
- Literary or media perspectives from or about African Americans, Asian Americans, Indigenous people/Native Americans, Latinx, Jewish Americans, LGBTQIA+, ableism, and more.
Participants will also learn of other HCLS-led initiatives in the race, equity and inclusion arena.
