Vive la France!

Paris was the center of the universe for a long time and they have the stuff to back it up!

Beginning with early Frenchmanuscripts, we'll take an art walk through the history of France. You will see portraiture, landscape and still life works by some of the great French artists including Chardin, David, and Watteau, furniture made by some of France's finest ébénistes (cabinet makers) and decorative arts items that filled the palaces of kings such as Louis XIV. Then, moving up a century or so, we will look at Monet, Degas, Renoir and others who made Impressionism their own.
