With a focus upon the Chopin Preludes this talk with Dr. Richard Giarusso explores the history of the ìpreludeî from the 18th to the 20th century. Chopinís Preludes while rooted strongly in the traditions of the genre are also unusual in many respects and pave the way for increasingly flexible treatments of the genre by later composers.
