HCLS co-hosts an online Roundtable focusing on a local business owned by a Person of Color in Howard County. The owner shares the experiences and challenges they face as a local business owner. Learn what it takes to start your own successful business. Ask questions of people who own a local business. Maybe it will inspire you to start your own!  The discussion is moderated by Nat Alston, Chair and Founder of the Ujamaa Business Roundtable. The Business Roundtable normally meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month, but was moved in November due to the holiday.  Includes time for Q&A.

The featured business owner at November's Business Roundtable is  Lee Putney, Sr., Founder of Asé Water.

Asé (or àse or ashe) is an African philosophical concept that literally means making things happen, evoking the power of thought to produce change.

Asé Water, the all-natural brand of alkaline water is now the first, 100% African American-owned brand of bottled water to be available nationally for wholesale distribution. The concept for Asé Water was launched by a team of African American executives in 2017, to counter what many felt to be a lackadaisical response to a catastrophic health crisis in Flint, Michigan.

In partnership with Ujamaa Business Roundtable, a roundtable of African-American business owners from the counties of Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's, Baltimore and Baltimore City.
