Program Description
Event Details
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a part of everyday life; what does that mean for you, your work, and the Howard County community? We want to hear from you! You are invited to an evening of informal conversation about the role of AI in our lives. Whether you’re new to the topic or already familiar with it, this event is a space for everyone in Howard County to exchange thoughts and learn from one another.
The summit will open with a brief presentation from our guest speaker, Dr. Jen Golbeck, Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, whose core research interests are in understanding how people use social media to improve the way they interact with information. Then together we will explore ways AI is already being used and discuss the potential it holds for our community including enhancing local services, education, and business opportunities. This isn’t just about learning what AI is—it’s about imagining what AI could do for Howard County residents and how AI fits into the library's mission to champion accessible technology and empower its effective use. Together, we can participate in the development of these technologies and shape their local impact.
Your opinions matter, and this event is a chance to connect with your neighbors and be part of a discussion that could help influence the future of AI in our community.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services grant #1589.
